Where the artwork met the public.

Nile Calligraphy's first exhibition created an opportunity for visitors to encounter the artwork in person, ask questions about the pieces and engage directly with the artist.

The exhibition brought together Islamic calligraphy, handcrafted artwork and elements of Ugandan heritage in a setting designed around conversation, craftsmanship and cultural connection.

Solo Exhibition

The displayed paintings were handmade and originally composed by Murtaza Alavi.

More than a display of paintings.

Visitors were able to speak directly with the artist and ask about the stories, techniques and ideas behind the works.

Questions ranged from landscapes and horse paintings to the stories behind individual pieces, turning the exhibition into a space for conversation as well as viewing.

Art became conversation.

Visitors did not simply walk past the paintings. They could meet the artist, ask questions and hear the stories behind the work.
